What time zone are dates and times shown in?
Dates and times in the app are shown in your own device’s time zone — the one set on your computer or phone. Times are stored centrally and converted to your local time automatically, so two people in different time zones each see the same event at their own local time.
Times you see across Flamingo — when something was created, when a payment or payout happened, “last active”, and so on — are displayed in your device’s time zone: the one configured on the computer or phone you’re using.
How it works
- Behind the scenes, every timestamp is stored in a single universal standard (UTC).
- When a page loads, your browser converts each time to your local time zone automatically.
- So you always see times in your own local clock — there’s nothing to configure.
Because it’s based on your device, two people viewing the same event in different time zones each see it in their own local time. The underlying moment is identical; only the displayed clock time differs. If a time ever looks off, check your device’s date, time, and time-zone settings first.
Dates without a time
Some values are just a calendar date with no time attached — for example an invoice date, a payout date, or a contract’s start and end date. These show as the plain date and don’t shift with your time zone.
Displayed time vs when things happen
It helps to know there are two different time zones at play:
- Your device time zone — controls how dates and times are displayed to you (this article).
- Your organization’s time zone — controls when certain automatic tasks run (for example, generating recurring invoices). That’s based on the company’s registered country, not your device.
So an automatic task might run on a schedule in the organization’s time zone, while the timestamp you see is shown in your own device’s time zone — which can look different if the two don’t match. If you’re an admin, see How your organization’s time zone affects automatic billing.
Note: Displayed times follow your device’s time zone — there’s no setting for it in the app. If a time looks wrong, it’s almost always your device’s clock or time-zone setting that needs checking.
