Classify apps and websites for productivity

Productivity metrics are only as good as their categories. Flamingo classifies every app and website a team uses as Productive, Unproductive, or Neutral — and each client decides what those mean for their organization.

If you’re a contractor, this explains how your tracked time gets labeled productive or unproductive: it’s based on *which app or site* you were using, as classified by your client — not on judging the content of your work.

How classification works

• Common tools and sites come pre-classified with sensible defaults (development tools, design tools, communication apps, and well-known sites).
• Anything unrecognized starts as Neutral until it’s classified.
• Websites are matched by their domain; applications by the app itself.
• An organization’s own rules override the defaults, so the categories reflect how *that* team works — a social site might be “unproductive” for one company and core work for a marketing team.

Reclassify apps and websites (business admins)

1. Go to Settings → Productivity & Screenshots and open the Apps & Websites tab.
2. Switch between Applications and Websites to see everything your organization has used.
3. Use the dropdown on any row to set it to Productive, Unproductive, or Neutral.

Changes apply to your organization’s reporting from then on.

Where the categories show up

The classification drives the Productive / Unproductive / Neutral breakdowns in Productivity Insights — the per-person activity classification and the top productive/unproductive apps and sites.
