What the desktop agent collects — and what it doesn’t
The agent tracks only while a session you started is running: periodic screenshots (shown to your client as blurred previews), the apps you use, the sites you visit, and an activity level based on whether you’re present — never your keystrokes or what you type. You can see your own summaries and delete your own screenshots.
Transparency matters, so here is exactly what the desktop agent records during a work session — and, just as importantly, what it doesn’t.
It only tracks during a session you start
The agent collects data only while a session is active — a session you start yourself in the agent, tied to a specific contract and project. End the session and tracking stops. There is no always-on background monitoring of your computer.
What’s collected
- Screenshots — captured periodically (by default at random moments roughly every 10 minutes, as configured by your client). They’re uploaded encrypted, and when your client views them in their dashboard they see blurred previews. Screenshots are kept for a limited retention period and then deleted automatically.
- Apps — which application you’re using, its window title, and for how long.
- Sites — the address of sites you visit and the page title.
- Activity level — a percentage based on whether you’re actively using the computer, with idle time detected after a few minutes of inactivity. This is a presence signal only.
- Time — your session time syncs to your timesheets automatically.
What’s NOT collected
- No keystroke logging — the agent does not record what you type.
- No content capture — it doesn’t read your files, messages, or clipboard.
- Nothing outside a session — when you haven’t started a session, it isn’t tracking.
What you can see and control
- See your own data — the My Productivity page shows your daily summaries (data appears the morning after the activity).
- Delete your own screenshots — you can delete a screenshot from the agent; this removes the image and the overlapping tracked time with it.
- Stop anytime — end your session in the agent to stop tracking.
Your client uses this data for productivity reporting on the work you do together — how they see it is described in their dashboard. Questions about your client’s monitoring policy are best raised with them directly.
Note: The two facts most people want to know: tracking happens only during sessions you start, and the activity metric is presence-based — your keystrokes and content are never recorded.
