Payment processing fees (card vs ACH)

1 min read · Updated Jun 2026

Bank (ACH) payments cost 1.30% capped at $5.00; card payments cost 2.9% + $0.30. Fees are charged to your company — never deducted from the contractor — and itemized in the payroll preview before you confirm.

When you fund a payroll run or pay an invoice, a processing fee applies based on the payment method you use. Fees are always charged to your company — they’re added on top of the contractor’s payout, never deducted from it.

Fees by payment method

  • Bank account (ACH)1.30% of the amount, capped at $5.00. The lowest-cost option for most payments.
  • Debit card2.9% + $0.30. Available for payrolls between $100 and $25,000.
  • Credit card2.9% + $0.30. Available for payrolls between $500 and $25,000.

Other fees

  • Failed ACH payment$4.00 if a bank payment is returned.
  • Dispute fee$15.00 if a charge is disputed.

See the exact fee before you pay

Every payroll run shows a preview that itemizes each cost — the processing fee for each method, plus any FX spread and FX buffer — so you can compare methods and see the full amount before confirming.

Note: ACH is usually cheapest thanks to the $5.00 cap. Cards are a flat percentage with no cap, so they cost more on larger payments.

Warning: Fees can vary by region and account, and the rates above reflect current pricing. The figures shown in your payroll preview are always the exact amounts you’ll be charged.
