Send a contract for signing

1 min read · Updated Jun 2026

For a Flamingo or custom-template agreement, the contract is generated in PandaDoc — send it for signing, your business signatory signs first, then the contractor is invited. If you uploaded your own agreement, there’s nothing to send.

When you use a standard Flamingo agreement or a custom template, the contract is generated in PandaDoc and signed by both parties before it goes active. If you chose Use your own agreement, it’s already signed — there’s nothing to send.

Send for signing

  1. On the Review contract step — or from the contract’s actions — click Send for signing.
  2. Confirm the signatories. The first signatory (your business) signs first.
  3. Optionally tick Automatically invite contractor so they’re invited to sign right after you.

Track signing

The contract’s status shows where it is:

  • Draft — created, not yet sent
  • Pending signature — sent, awaiting signatures
  • Active — both parties signed; the contract is live

Nudge a signer

If a signature is outstanding, use Send reminder (or Resend invitation) from the contract’s actions.

Note: Use Release contract to send a drafted contract. A contract only becomes Active once everyone has signed. Uploaded "own agreements" skip signing and are active once the contractor is onboarded.
