How and when you’re charged

1 min read · Updated Jun 2026

Flamingo doesn’t use a prepaid wallet. When you approve a payroll run or pay an invoice, the amount is charged to your default payment method — and your business must be verified first.

Flamingo charges your payment method directly when a payment happens — there’s no prepaid balance or wallet to top up.

How it works

  1. Your business is verified and you have a default payment method set.
  2. When you approve a payroll run or pay a contractor invoice, the amount is charged to your default method.
  3. Once the charge succeeds, the payout is released to the contractor.

Good to know

  • No wallet to fund — you don’t pre-load money; you’re charged per transaction.
  • Verification first — payments are blocked until your business is Approved.
  • A default method is required — if no verified default exists, the payment can’t proceed.

Warning: If a charge is declined (expired card, insufficient funds), the run shows as failed — you can retry or switch payment method. Keep a valid default method on file.
