What happens after you invite a contractor

1 min read · Updated Jun 2026

When you click Send Invite, the contractor gets an email to join. They accept, complete their profile, verify their identity, add a bank account, and sign (or accept) the contract — then it becomes Active and you can pay them.

After you finish adding a contractor and click Send Invite, they receive an email invitation to join Flamingo and complete onboarding.

What the contractor receives

  • An email invitation to create their account.
  • For a Flamingo or custom agreement, a signing request once your side has signed — see How contract signing works.

What the contractor completes

To finish onboarding and get paid, the contractor:

  1. Accepts the invitation and sets a password.
  2. Completes their profile — personal information and contact details.
  3. Verifies their identity — a quick document + selfie check.
  4. Adds a bank account to receive payouts.
  5. Signs or accepts the contract — signs via PandaDoc for a Flamingo or custom agreement, or accepts an uploaded "own agreement".

For the contractor’s own walkthrough, see Getting started: your contractor onboarding.

When they’re ready

Once the contract is signed or accepted and their details are set, it becomes Active (or Upcoming if the start date is in the future) and you can pay them.

You can track outstanding steps and resend the invite or a signing reminder from the contractor’s profile and contract — see View and manage contracts.
