How it works

From invite to a payout in PHP

Every contractor in the Philippines goes through the same three steps, and you see each one in Flamingo.

  • Invite and contract. Add contractors one by one or by CSV. They complete their profile, verify their identity with Persona and e-sign a W-9 or W-8BEN, then sign your agreement: Flamingo's ready-made template or your own.

  • Check the risk. Run the AI misclassification check on the contract before you sign. You get a Low, Medium or High risk level, a score from 0 to 100 and the reasoning.

  • Approve invoices. Contractors invoice hourly, daily or monthly on the schedule you set, and add expenses. Approve, reject with a reason, or dispute. Billing schedules can auto-approve under a cap you choose.

  • Pay in one batch. Fund one payout run in USD and every approved invoice in it is paid in PHP to the contractor's own bank account.

Example payout run: three contractors in the Philippines, funded in USD and paid in Philippine pesos to their own bank accounts.

Know the risk before you sign in the Philippines

Every contract can be checked for the risk that the contractor should legally be an employee. The Philippines is one of the 38countries where the check draws on local statutes and the worker-status test. It's a risk signal, not legal advice.

  • Low risk. Few signs of employment in the contract.

  • Medium risk. Some terms point toward employment.

  • High risk. Strong signs of an employment relationship.

  • Each result comes with a score from 0 to 100 and the reasoning behind it.

Contractor or employee

Contractor or employee in the Philippines

If someone works like an employee, paying them as a contractor is a misclassification risk. Flamingo covers both: contractors here, employees through Employer of Record or on your own entity.

Contract Management in the Philippines: questions

How do I pay a contractor in the Philippines?

Add them to Flamingo, sign a contract and approve their invoices. Flamingo pays each approved invoice in Philippine pesos to the contractor's own bank account through Stripe Connect, in one payout run you fund in USD.

What does it cost to pay contractors in the Philippines?

$29 per contractor per month, billed in USD, only for active contractors. The contractor receives 100% of the invoice: funding and payout fees are charged to your account. Productivity monitoring is included.

What currency are contractors in the Philippines paid in?

Philippine pesos (PHP). Stripe converts the amount when it pays out to the contractor's bank account.

When do contractors get paid?

Payouts follow the invoice schedule: weekly and bi-weekly invoices are paid the next Friday; monthly, semi-monthly and fixed invoices on the 15th. Invoices need approving 2 days before the payout day, and you can also pay a run as soon as it's funded. Outside the US, payouts typically reach the bank in 1–7 business days, depending on the country.

Does the misclassification check cover the Philippines?

Yes. The Philippines is one of the 38 countries with in-depth legal guidance. Each check returns a Low, Medium or High risk level, a score from 0 to 100 and the reasoning behind it. It's a risk signal, not legal advice.

Can I use my own contractor agreement?

Yes. Use Flamingo's ready-made contractor agreement, your own template, or upload an agreement that's already signed. Contracts are e-signed in Flamingo, and you can amend, extend, renew or end them there too.

What if my contractor should be an employee?

If you don't have an entity in the Philippines, Flamingo's Employer of Record employs them for $599 per employee per month, on top of salary and employer costs. If your own entity employs them, Managed Services runs their payroll for $49 per employee per month.
